2nd Place

I competed in a 5k Dog Fun Run today in Kingstown, RI. No website for the event, and I am not even sure what it was called. The goal was to raise money for some dog related charity. I placed 6th overall and 2nd for those competing with a dog.

I took our dog Iya, she did great. We stopped briefly at both water stations for her to get quick drinks.

Our first mile was almost 8mi flat followed by two sub 10min miles for a total time of 27:10. Pretty good for running with a dog that weighs around 17lbs wet. She migled with the other dogs well and when we got home quickly passed out.

First Triathlon

I competed in the second annual Ocean City Triathlon, in Misquamicut, RI. It was a great time. I was surprised by the amount of people there that were hardcore with the racing. There were three much larger events going on in Connecticut on this past Sunday.

I swam in a cheap pair of spandex and short swim shorts. A wetsuit would have been nice, as I was about one of a dozen people not in one.

The swim was a very long 1/2 mile buoy to buoy swim, with a swim out to the first buoy and back in from the second. Water was perfect, but I was unable to relax in the water, spending the majority of the swim on my back.

What I lacked in the water I made up for on the bike, I passed a good 30 people on the bike. My first transition went fast and smooth except for the fact I forgot to drink anything and was trying to drink while almost done with my first lap on the bike. However I was still wearing the swam thing I swam in, just with an added shirt now, so my rear-end was feeling the pain.
The run went as well as I thought it would go. I did get passed by a few (4) people on the run, and passed one person myself.

Overall I was happy with my time and enjoyed the race. I finished in 1:55. So just under two hours.

New Case Studies Coming

To try and get back to more marketing related content, I am preparing some new case studies from past experiences to highlight some of the work I have done in the past.

Prometheus Deception

For the past year I was working 60 hours/week and had many other commitments (mainly family), as a result I was unable to read as much as I like to. Recently I was able to start reading again (more reviews to come), and join a local library that I did not know even existed. Once again not related to marketing or branding, but still related to my life.
First up is another awesome book by Robert Ludlum. You can find a large chunk of the book on Google Books. Published in October of 2001, shortly after 9/11.

The book is about a spy (like most of his books), Nick Bryson who works for an organization called the Directorate. This is an organization with no governmental oversight and can get away with things normal agencies could not.

Bryson is told by his boss/mentor that he is being put out for retirement and will now be a college professor in the east coast. Bryson does not like this fact but takes the new position after almost 20 years in the field. It is very hard not to give away some large plot twists in the book, definitely worth the read.

The books takes place in various places within the United States, on a Supertanker that has been converted to a gigantic arms shop, and many places abroad. If you enjoy action/spy novels this one can be picked up cheap used or free from your local library.

Figures

Figures that my first post ‘back’ would be when my MacBook is working again. It was out of commission for months, finally got it fixed. Hard drive was dead, I was hoping for month to try and get some info off of it. Finally working again, and happy. I was using my 14” Dell D620 and switching down from 14 inches to 13.3 is a much bigger deal than you would imagine.
