Updates

Are few and far between. If you want to follow my training you can do it here: My Training Log

I update it daily with what I have done or haven’t done. I am trying to focus more on running and swimming, swimming especially. I can swim now that I work nights, the pool is open in the morning. My next race that I know of is my 1/2 marathon in Washington DC. If I can get enough running in and race a qualifier ahead of time I will go for the full marathon, but as it stands I do not have enough of a base yet.

2008

Happy New Year. I started off with a 5mile run, followed by a jump into the ocean at Groton Long Point. It was an awesome time, weather even cleared up a few minutes into the run. People were drinking, to ‘stay warm.’ People were dressed up all crazy. I know how to prepare for next years.  I think it was a good way to start off the new year.

2008 Race Season

Tentatively the following are the races that I intend to compete in:

3/29/2008 Wirefly National Marathon
4/20/2008 Wrentham Duathlon
5/24/2008 US Coast Guard Duathlon
8/10/2008 Park City Bridgeport Olympic Triathlon
9/7/2008 Firmman 1/2 Iron
10/7/2008 Chicago Marathon
10/26/2008 Wrentham Halloween Duathlon

Along with the two local sprint triathlons hosted by the local YMCAs, and I will also probably run a bunch of 5k, 8k, 10k races as the weather gets better in the spring.

I may also actively join a local bike racing circuit, that races on a weekly basis so that I can work solely on speed over short distances.

Still Trucking Along

I almost lost this domain name, fortunately I was able to retain it.

I am still trucking along in my training. I ride at least 10hours a week on my bike trainer (Cyclop Ops Fluid 2), and I am trying to run 15 miles a week but that is getting more difficult due to the weather. In January I start swimming again with a coach this time around. 2008 should be a good season.

Duathlons and Running Fast

I competed in the Wrentham, Ma. Halloween Duathlon and something happened to me. I started running ‘fast.’ I had been running 8:30minute miles, and now I am running sub 8 easily.

In the duathlon, I finished the 3mile run, 11mile ride, 2mile run in under an hour and twenty minutes.

More importantly I ran 8.2 miles today in an hour and three minutes. Which is 7:40minute miles. Which is nice for running so far. My goal of a three and half hour marathon in 2008 does not seem so bad anywhere.

Not sure why I became faster all of the sudden, but I like it.
