2008 Totals

I nailed my SBR goals for the year:
2008 (Goals)
- 3000 Miles Cycling
- 600 Miles Running
- 150, 000 Yards Swimming
It was a good year for me. A lot of changes, most for the best. My numbers were good, and a huge change over 2007. I log everything now, have a coach, some serious goals, and a happier more fulfilling life than I started the year with. I like my life.
Swimming

While I still do not love swimming, I have found that I enjoy it as long as I keep yards up. When I look back to about 1.5 years ago and having not swam for a long time and how I could barely swim a lap in the pool to where I am at now (over 250k yards in 2008), I am amazed.
Reading the Total Immersion book and watching videos for free online was a huge boost for me, which I then backed up with a adult conditioning class and then master’s swim class. I still swim with the Master’s group Saturday mornings and its a huge benefit.
Combine all that with a coach that loves swimming and I have no where to go (except the other end of the pool for the winter) and all the speed to get there. I really did go from loathing swimming, to tolerating it to enjoying it.
Brooks
Dec 4th
I am also now part of Brooks Development and Sponsorship team. I first started running in Brooks and now I am back rocking a pair of Ghosts.
More Changes for 2009

I am now working with a coach. I had emailed quite a few well know companies, a bunch of individuals. Some were great with responses, while others had bad email address on their websites or were terrible at responding. I chose John Hirsch, we sent a few emails back and forth and spoke on the phone. Talking to him on the phone got me real pumped.
I had already registered for Timberman, I will more than likely be racing RI70.3 along with 2-3 other 70.3 events depending on fitness.
We have periodized the off season for training purposes. I have already started a heavy swim focus which will be followed by a run focus ending with a 10miler or 13.1 race. After which I will start my bike focus which will then lead into my race season.
Ideally I would like to Clearwater qualify, but I can give that another year. Depending on how well I do this year and what I can do schedule-wise in 2010 will determine if I race 70.3, 140.6 or go solely for ultramarathons.
I think having John as my coach will be very beneficial and a much better aid than a PT.
