Training

Updates

Are few and far between. If you want to follow my training you can do it here: My Training Log

I update it daily with what I have done or haven’t done. I am trying to focus more on running and swimming, swimming especially. I can swim now that I work nights, the pool is open in the morning. My next race that I know of is my 1/2 marathon in Washington DC. If I can get enough running in and race a qualifier ahead of time I will go for the full marathon, but as it stands I do not have enough of a base yet.

Still Trucking Along

I almost lost this domain name, fortunately I was able to retain it.

I am still trucking along in my training. I ride at least 10hours a week on my bike trainer (Cyclop Ops Fluid 2), and I am trying to run 15 miles a week but that is getting more difficult due to the weather. In January I start swimming again with a coach this time around. 2008 should be a good season.

Duathlons and Running Fast

I competed in the Wrentham, Ma. Halloween Duathlon and something happened to me. I started running ‘fast.’ I had been running 8:30minute miles, and now I am running sub 8 easily.

In the duathlon, I finished the 3mile run, 11mile ride, 2mile run in under an hour and twenty minutes.

More importantly I ran 8.2 miles today in an hour and three minutes. Which is 7:40minute miles. Which is nice for running so far. My goal of a three and half hour marathon in 2008 does not seem so bad anywhere.

Not sure why I became faster all of the sudden, but I like it.

2nd Place

I competed in a 5k Dog Fun Run today in Kingstown, RI. No website for the event, and I am not even sure what it was called. The goal was to raise money for some dog related charity. I placed 6th overall and 2nd for those competing with a dog.

I took our dog Iya, she did great. We stopped briefly at both water stations for her to get quick drinks.

Our first mile was almost 8mi flat followed by two sub 10min miles for a total time of 27:10. Pretty good for running with a dog that weighs around 17lbs wet. She migled with the other dogs well and when we got home quickly passed out.
