Goals
Downtime and 2010
Oct 23rd
I have some great sponsorship lined up for 2010. However right now I am happy enjoying some downtime. Just relaxing and getting back into some unstructured training. November is another ‘off’ month unstructured training and a Turkey Trot. Also racing the Tarzan Brown 5.5mile River Run in Mystic, CT.
Really enjoying more time with my daughter and some decent weather.
Planning to race Kona in 2011 again. 2010 is a focus on short/fast. Olympic/70.3.

Kona was such an awesome experience and I can not wait to race it again.
Goals for 2009
Jan 1st
So I have been thinking about goals in 2009, what I want to do, what I already have planned and where I want to be. Goals should be SMART. Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-based. So these are all for 2009, so check time off, achievable? check, realistic? check. My fitness and race are specific and measurable. The general goals, not so much. However as long as long asI stay consistent more than anything I will be happy.
General:
- Be a good father
- Stay healthy
- Stay fit
- Make more money
- Be consistent
- Save more
Racing:
- Sub 5:00 HIM
- Sub 19:59 5k
- 1:30 half marathon
Fitness:
- Run 1000 Miles
- Bike 4000 Miles
- Swim 300,000 yards (170.4 miles)
It is a little under 1000miles from where I live in CT to where I grew up outside of Chicago, IL. I would like to run that distance over the course of the year, while bike enough to go cross country and then back some. The swim total is really just a double of what I did in 2008. I think as long as I stay healthy and fairly injury free and consistent these goals are obtainable. Working with my coach should help me achieve my race goals. I think I am a good father, everyone says that I am, so as long as I can continue that I will be good to go.
I enjoy my life and would like to continue doing so. Happy New Years!
2008 Totals

I nailed my SBR goals for the year:
2008 (Goals)
- 3000 Miles Cycling
- 600 Miles Running
- 150, 000 Yards Swimming
It was a good year for me. A lot of changes, most for the best. My numbers were good, and a huge change over 2007. I log everything now, have a coach, some serious goals, and a happier more fulfilling life than I started the year with. I like my life.
2009 Races and Goals…HELP!!!
Sep 26th
I am racing a 50mile Ultramarthon in April (10-12th) 2009, I would like to do Nutmegman 1/2 (September 20th, 2009). I am torn if I want to race IMKY or do Mooseman (1/2) in June and Beach to Battleship (1/2) in November 2009.
So choices are
1) Ultra, IMKY, maybe Nutmegman
2) Ultra, Mooseman, Nutmegman, and maybe B2B
3) ?
The conundrum is this, I honestly am not sure if I can get in enough long rides to truly be ready for IMKY. The distance really does not intimidate meet, as much as my lack of long bike rides. I also enjoy ocean swims, and like my wetsuit (DeSoto), so in that respect IMKY is a bit of a turnoff.
Advice?
Adventure Racing
Apr 16th
While I do truly love training and racing for triathlons, I also love the outdoors. If possible I may try to do some sort of adventure race if I do not need a large team. I have a race in my head that I would love to start but it would be at least a year away.
Really I would just have to start getting off the roads some and training off road a bit.
