The Biggest Risk

What is Risk?

Risk is the potential of losing something of value, weighed against the potential to gain something of value.

The biggest risk in life is choosing to do nothing. By choosing the path of inaction, you have chosen to stay idle and not increase your lot in life. In everything we do there are two possible choices. We can choose to act or we can choose to sit still. Stillness in and of itself is not necessarily a bad choice, it is the choice of inaction and the one of safety.

Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. Security does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than exposure.

Helen Keller

In each decision that you make there are three potential outcomes;

1. You could do something and the outcome is positive
2. You could do something and the outcome is negative
3. You could do nothing at all, and nothing will change

You can not always control the outcome of when you act, but by acting you have made the decision to try to make the situation better. The outcome may not be what you desired, but by acting you have taken a risk.

Life is based on the risks that we take and our futures are decided on the choices we make. Choose to do something. Choose to make your life more meaningful.
